Water charges waiver scheme to be announced next week.

A waiver on water supply charges for homes on boil water notice is to be announced next week by the Commission for Energy Regulation.

The move would see homes with the problem for less than three months get a 50 percent discount, while a 100 percent discount would apply for those suffering for over three months.

And the Environment Minister says the regulator is considering further compensatory measures – which while not a cash payment – could see the time limits reduced even further.

Tipperarys Alan Kelly explained to the Dáil last night that water supply charges would not apply to those with water problems for three months.

A number of households on the Burncourt supply near Cahir have had a boil water notice in place for a number of years.
