Village renewal programme needed in Tipperary

Currently there is no streamlined policy for improvements and works carried out in villages around the county, instead each of the five municipal districts looks after the areas within their own district.

At a recent meeting of the Carrick Municipal District, officials were told that if each village had a specific grant to fix issues such as footpaths, public lighting and minor roads, it would boost rural areas outside of the towns.

Chair of the Carrick area, Independent Councillor Eddie O'Meara thinks that a renewal scheme would work very well.
