VFI President unhappy with obstacles facing businesses

The outgoing president of the Vintner's Federation of Ireland says the cost of insurance added to commercial rates is hampering the industry.

Over 400 publicans from all corners of Ireland are gathered in Wexford this week for the 43rd annual conference of the VFI.

Among the issues up for discussion at the VFI conference are engagement with the government, tourism opportunities and employment.

Speaking with Fran Curry on Tipp Today outgoing president of the federation Noreen O'Sullivan of Rocky's in Nenagh said while trade is improving there are a number of obstacles facing publicans and other traders.

Tipperary County Council this week unveiled a county wide tourism strategy which should be of benefit to the pub trade.

Noreen O'Sullivan says there is already a noticeable increase in the number of tourists visiting Tipperary which will pay dividends in a number of ways.
