UK terror threat level reduced to severe

The UK’s terror threat level has been reduced from ‘critical’ to ‘severe’.

However it means an attack is still highly likely.

Theresa May’s been giving an update – after an emergency COBRA meeting this morning.

She also says Operation Temperer, which allows the military to be deployed to key sites, will continue until the end of this weekend.

The British prime minister’s confirmed the UK terror threat level has been reduced by one level.

Meanwhile, an evacuation’s under way in the inner-city area of Manchester as part of a search following Monday’s terror attack.

It comes as security’s stepped up for major events this weekend.

Armed officers will be on patrol at venues including Wembley, where the FA Cup Final takes place later.

Eleven men remain in custody – two men in their early 20’s were held after police carried out a controlled explosion to raid a property in the Cheetham Hill area in the early hours.
