Tourism and N24 upgrade key issues for new Carrick Cathaoirleach

The new Cathaoirleach of the Carrick on Suir Municipal District says improving the county’s road infrastructure and tourism are the two key areas he will be looking at during his tenure.

Fine Gael Clr John Fahy was elected to the top job at the Annual meeting of the council yesterday after being proposed and seconded by Cllrs Louise McLoughlin and Eddie O’Meara.

Calling for the d’hondt system to be used to vote in a new Cathaoirleach David Dunne proposed Kieran Bourke but Clr Bourke declined the nomination.

Clr Fahy who has served on the local authority since 1999 says there are several issues he will be looking at
