White Gypsy Imperial stout received the accolade by the Irish Food Writers Guild…the first time that a beer has claimed the title.
The stout is made by brewer Cuilan Loughnane in the White Gypsy brewery in Templemore which has been in operation since 2009.
Cuilan says to see off competition from all other drinks is a massive boost for his business.
