Tipperary householders urge to attend meetings on GPS mapping.

Plans to make it easier for emergency services to locate houses in rural parts of Tipperary are being stepped up.

The South Tipperary Development Company is funding a new project which will map local communities on a Global Positioning System which will give each house an individual identity.

This will allow ambulance, fire brigade, Gardai and Caredoc to get to an emergency call quicker using Sat-Nav.

Meetings are being held in Ballingarry, Killenaule, Ballinure, Drangan and Gortnahoe in the coming weeks to allow people to sign up for the scheme.

Local election candidate Imelda Goldsboro says GPS mapping will avoid a repeat of a recent incident in the area.
