Tipperary drug offence figures skewed by population levels

However the inclusion of Ballingarry in North Tipp and Clogheen in the south of the county are down to their low population.

A report in today’s Irish independent claims that the North Tipp village if Ballingarry has the 3rd highest rate of drug offences in the country with 289 per 100,000 – however this equates to just 2 recorded offences between January and June of this year.

Clogheen is ranked the 30th worst affected area in the country in the first six months of 2015 with 140 detections per 100,000 – again skewed by the small number of people living there.

Clonmel has the 9th highest record for drug offences with 196 for each 100,000 people while Nenagh comes in 21st.

Store Street in Dublin has the worst offender rate at almost 1,000 for every 100,000 of population.
