With the recent spell of dry weather now coming to an end, roads across the county could be slick or greasy in places and drivers should make sure their vehicles are in good shape.

Heavy rain and wind is set to continue throughout the majority of the weekend and motorists are being urged to slow down and drive to the road conditions.

Garda Niamh Dooley is from Cahir Traffic Corp and she said: “Check your cars before you go that the dry weather hasn't dried out some tyres. Make sure that you have a decent thread depth on your tyres, 1.6mm is the legal limit of your thread depth. Check your wiper blades on your cars that they haven't perished so they're in good nick and you're going to be able to clear your windows…check your car for water…do the usual pre-checks.”
