Tipperary Chief: ‘Crime doesn’t pay’

Chief Superintendent Catherine Keogh was speaking in the wake of yesterday's sentencing of seven men for a terrifying raid on a young family near Killenaule almost two years ago.

The men – all from Dublin – have been jailed for between 5 and 16 years for the armed burglary at the home of Mark and Emma Corcoran and their three young daughters at Burnchurch in November 2013.

Chief Superintendent Keogh says the sentences show that those involved in such crime will be punished.

Meanwhile, Detective Sergeant James White of Thurles Garda Station was one the lead investigators in the case.

He has praised the bravery of the Corcoran's and particularly those of Emma who called Gardaí while the raid was taking place.
