Tipperary broadband network to be completed in coming months

Fibre-optic broadband in 8 urban areas of Tipperary will be active in the coming months.

The Metropolitan Area Network fibre-optic broadband platform provides high capacity web-based services to the county.

Fine Gael Deputy Noel Coonan says there are some 50 different service providers using MAN's to deliver their services to business and domestic households.

At present three of the MAN's are currently active in the county – Templemore, Nenagh and Clonmel.

The remaining five are in Roscrea, Tipperary Town, Cahir, Carrick-on-Suir, and Cashel.
