Carers in Tipp give more than 98,000 hours unpaid care to the county’s sick, elderly and vulnerable each week.

There are over 7,000 carers in Tipperary with almost half of them regularly working between 15 and 43 hours every week.

To highlight the work of carers in Tipp and across the country the Irish Red Cross is calling for nominations for their 2014 Carer of the Year awards.

Manager of the South Tipperary Carers Association Richie Molloy says it means a lot for Carers to be recognised for the work they do.
