Tipp households urged to check water pipes

Tipperary householders are being urged to check as soon as possible if their water pipes need replacing.

It’s estimated that up to 180 thousand homes have lead piping which can be hazardous to people's health if ingested over a prolonged period.

Grants of up to 4000 euro are available to help with the costs while Irish Water will pay for replacing the pipe from the mains system to the boundary of the property.
