Tipp gardaí bucking the national trend on crime detection.

Recent crime statistics reveal that gardaí in the Premier County have a higher than normal rate of detections in thefts across all categories including thefts from homes, shops and from people.

Figures show that so far this year, reports of thefts from people have reduced by 42% while incidents involving shops has risen by 14%.

When it comes to burglaries, Tipperary has a detection rate of 31%, again above the national average.

Chief Superintendent of the Tipperary Garda Division, Catherine Keogh says the success of Operation Thor is having an impact.
