Tipp farmers got most money for new buildings

Figures from the Department of Agriculture show almost €4m in grant payments were issued for works under the TAMS 2 scheme last year.

In all 347 farmers received funding in 2016 – 70 of them were from Tipperary.

The payments in the Premier amounted to 766 thousand.

Farmers in Cork and Kilkenny drew down grants totalling over €500,000 in each county.

According to the Department another 421 farmers submitted claims for grant aid last year but have yet to be paid.
