Thousands protested against water charges yesterday

The group which is supported and run by trade union groups has also proposed a change to the constitution to ensure Irish water remains in public ownership.

Yesterday tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Dublin city to protest against water charges. 

General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union Steve Fitzpatrick says they will put pressure on candidates in the coming months.

But Minister of State for the Labour Party, Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, says the Government have already resolved the issues concerning Irish Water.
