Tendering process deemed unfair for Tipp builders

It’s claimed the tendering process for local authority housing is unfair to many builders in Tipperary.

The current guidelines require a company seeking work to supply turnover figures for up to three years.

For building projects the turnover figure is typically set at 75 to 150% of the annualized turnover of the capital value of the contract.

However Mullinahone based Independent County Councillor Eddie O’Meara says these rules are unfair to local builders who were hit by the downturn over the last decade.
