Graham Meagher (18) of Kilcaroon, Clogheen, Co Tipperary, was brought before a special sitting of Cashel district court on Saturday evening.
He is accused of assault causing harm on PJ Kelly at Kilcaroon on Thursday.

Mr Kelly suffered a serious head injury during an incident at his home and was taken by ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital before being transferred to Cork University Hospital later on Thursday.

He remains in a critical condition in hospital.
