Taoiseach signals self-employed people can expect a tax cut in the next Budget.

Enda Kenny's denying that plans to cut tax for these people is an admission that the budget decision to hike the Universal Social Charge for self-employed was a mistake.

He's also warned that there will be no return to the non-transparent process of social partnership.

In a speech to business leaders this morning Enda Kenny pledged tax cuts to self-employed people.

The Taoiseach's comments come just months after the coalition actually increased tax on these workers by hiking the rate of their Universal Social Charge.

Speaking to reporters Enda Kenny denied the change was an admission the measure was a mistake and said such tax cuts would take time:

He also insisted plans for a forum on future spending and taxation policy would in no way be any return to the era of social partnership:

The Taoiseach also says if the Low Pay Commission recommends an increase in the minimum wage, the coalition will match that with some measure such as a cut in employers PRSI so that there's no hit on those creating jobs.
