Taoiseach “genuinely hopes” deal to keep Greece in Euro can be agreed

It's all part of a proposal to get over €53 billion in new loans from the Eurozone, without which it could be forced out of the Euro by Monday.

Speaking at a meeting in Rome with his Italian counterpart, Enda Kenny says he hopes Europe will stand together to save Greece from further strife.

“I'd like to think that while the time ahead will be difficult for Greece and for its citizens that it will have the support of European colleagues in getting back to a position of confidence, of stability, of investment, of jobs – and hope for the people of Greece; a proud and noble people with a very long and powerful tradition” he said.
