Taoiseach defends three candidate strategy in Tipperary

Fine Gael currently holds two seats in the Premier County, but with the merging of North and South, and the loss of one seat, some believe it’s a risky move to run three election hopefuls in the one county.

Sitting TDs Noel Coonan and Junior Agriculture Minister Tom Hayes are both seeking to retain their seats, while Councillor Marie Murphy is also on the ticket.

But speaking in Tipperary at the weekend, the Taoiseach was confident of Fine Gael holding their two seats in the constituency.

Enda Kenny was in Templemore on Friday night on the campaign trail where he addressed a crowd of almost 100 people.

Speaking to Tipp FM, the Taoiseach defended the decision to run three candidates in the county.
