Tánaiste doesn’t expect Aer Lingus decision for some time.

The Tánaiste and Labour leader says she does not expect a decision on the future of the government's stake in Aer Lingus 'for some time'.

Joan Burton says work is ongoing on a report from advisors, despite weekend claims that an interdepartmental group had given their report to the Department of Transport.

IAG has offered €1.36 billion to buy the government's Aer Lingus shareholding.

However Joan Burton says no sale has been agreed.

“There's a whole series of discussions which are on-going, but there has been no decision reached and I don't expect that there will be for some time” she said.

“I'm not aware that their report is complete; there are a number of extremely serious factors in relation to our livelihood as a country in terms of connections” she added.
