Talks with C&C management to begin today following closure announcement

120 jobs are being lost with just 20 staff retained to deal with logistics at the Gleeson's site in the Mid-Tipp village.

The managing director of C&C is travelling to Ireland today to meet with management at the Borrisoleigh plant.

C&C is also closing its production facility at Shepton Mallet in the UK with all manufacturing of Bulmers and Magners cider and Tipperary Water to be based in Clonmel.

€10 million is to be invested in the Annerville site with the creation of 80 jobs…the former Borrisoleigh staff will have the option to apply for these posts.

However SIPTU official Terry Bryan says very little detail is known about the closure at this stage.

Staff in Borrisoleigh are extremely angry that news of the closure emerged in the media before they were informed.

Speaking to Tipp FM, one worker, who's been at the plant for 24 years, said the lack of information from the company is shameful.
