A status orange wind warning is in place for coastal areas and high ground in Donegal, Galway and Mayo.
Gusts of up to 120 kilometres per hour are expected in those counties.
A yellow wind warning is in place for Tipperary and the rest of the country with gusts of 110 kilometres an hour expected until 6 o'clock this evening.
