Speed van banned from North Tipp cemetery

A controversial speed van which regularly targeted motorists including funeral mourners at a North Tipperary cemetery will no longer be able to park there.

Nenagh Municipal District has adopted new Bye-Laws for Lisbunny Lawn Cemetery – which is adjacent to the existing burial ground ahead of the construction of the cemetery extension.

Under the new laws commercial vehicles, which includes the speed vans, will no longer be able to park at the site.

Local Sinn Fein Councillor Seamus Morris who had pushed for the measure says it’s not about defying road safety but that the camera van was operating while funerals were taking place.
