South Tipp most crowded hospital in the country

Tipperary's main hospital is the most overcrowded in the country today.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation reports 35 patients without a bed at South Tipp General – 29 of them are on trolleys around the Emergency Department while the remainder are in overflow areas of wards.

University Hospital Limerick has 32 people in a similar situation this lunchtime.

Nationally the nursing union has recorded 367 patients who have been admitted to hospital that are still waiting for a bed.
