Silage season leads to extra traffic on Tipperary’s roads

In many cases, machinery will be travelling in convoy between sites – with other road users being warned not to overtake unless it's safe to do so

Gardaí are also asking drivers to slow down when they come upon farm machinery and to be patient with the reduced speed on the roads.

Head of the Garda Traffic Corps in Tipperary, Inspector Eddie Golden, says the contractors feel motorists are still travelling to fast when approaching farm machinery.

However he is also reminding farmers and silage contractors of their need to allow traffic to pass safely.
