The Central Statistics Office says there was an increase of 12.2 per cent in the number of trips made to this country between June and August.
The number of visits made by US and Canadian tourists jumped 14.2 per cent, while the number of UK residents' trips jumped 12.6 per cent.

This weeks meeting of the Cashel – Tipperary Municipal District heard that around 70,000 tourists had visited the Rock of Cashel last month alone – or over 2,300 a day.
