Averil Power says her birth mother fell pregnant out of marriage and was put into the Temple Hill mother and baby home in Dublin in 1978.
In 2007, she eventually managed to get in touch with her birth mother when she signed up to a new voluntary contact register for adopted children.
She says it's high time the Government introduce legislation so that adopted people can get access to their birth cert.
