Ruling on Fenton case adjourned until Thursday

The matter was before Clonmel District Court this afternoon where Judge Terrance Finn was expected to make a decision on whether to accept the arguments put forward by the trainers defence team last week in relation to the charges.

The 49 year old is accused of possessing unlicensed animal remedies, including anabolic steroids, when a Department of Agriculture inspection took place at his yard at Garryduff, South Lodge outside Carrick in January of 2012.

However Mr Fenton's defence argued on Thursday last that the charges were put to him under legislation amended in July of 2012- 6 months after the alleged offences -arguing the state wasn't entitled to do this.

Today Judge Finn put back a decision in the matter until the sitting of the district court in Cashel on Thursday.
