Weekend sees two deaths on Tipperary roads

A man has been killed in a road traffic collision just off the M8 in Tipperary.

The incident involving an articulated truck and another individual happened at round 5.15 this evening just off Junction 11 Cahir South.
Gardai from Thurles and Cahir attended the scene along with ambulance personal and fire officers from Clonmel.

The man who was in his 40’s was pronounced dead at the scene while the truck driver was treated for shock.

The stretch of motorway was sealed off between Junction 11 & 12 as a Garda forensic collision investigator examined the scene, the motorway reopened later in the evening.

Its the second fatal crash in Tipperary. Yesterday a man in his 40’s died when his motorbike was in collision with a car on the N24 between Carrick on Suir and Clonmel.

It happened near Deerpark on the outskirts of Carrick just after 6 pm and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene
