Independent Councillor Jim Ryan says it would mean a lot for businesses and others in the town.
He wants Gas-Link – the body which decides where the supply is rolled out – to examine the feasibility of bringing gas to the town.
Despite Council officials suggesting that a cost benefit analysis would show that Thurles would not meet the criteria, Councillor Ryan is determined to push ahead.
