Pressure easing in emergency departments

Overcrowding problems at hospitals serving Tipperary have eased today.

Staff at South Tipp General are having to deal with 17 patients on trolleys around the Emergency Department or in overflow areas of wards.

This is down from 29 yesterday.

University Hospital Limerick – which provides cover for North Tipp – has 22 patients without a bed today. This is down from 33 yesterday.

Nationally 234 people who have been admitted from Emergency Departments are still waiting for a bed – down nearly 100 from yesterday.
