Three units of the Fire & Rescue Service were called to the blaze at O' Curry Place at around 8pm.
They found the house engulfed in flames and discovered a woman in her late 80s unconscious inside.
She was taken from the house and paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but an investigation is underway.
