Staff have voiced concerns over their personal safety at the facility – with the Psychiatric Nurses Association reporting over 30 assaults of its members since the start of the year.
Last month 10 nurses refused to turn up to work on one occasion, citing security concerns.
The PNA has warned lightning strikes will occur in UCHG if a resolution isn't found – the organisation's calling on the Minister for Mental Health Kathleen Lynch to intervene.
