The 19th century building is a protected structure.
This three story building which previously was used as a workhouse is one of eight such structures across County Tipperary.
It was designed by English man George Wilkinson who was also responsible for the design of the rest of the Workhouses in Ireland.
The Building opened in June 1853, to cater for 600 poor from the local community.
The Tipperary Training and Education Board has now lodged plans with Tipperary County Council to refurbish and extend the building to comprise of 4 post-primary classrooms, a games rooms along with landscaping works.
A decision on the plans should be made in the coming months.
