Pedestrian seriously injured in Tipperary road crash

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being knocked down in County Tipperary overnight.

The victim – who’s in his mid-40s – suffered serious injuries in the incident near Nenagh in the early hours of this morning.

The pedestrian was hit by a car on the R494 road between Newtown and Portroe at about twenty to one.

He’s been taken to University Hospital Limerick where his condition is being describes as criticial but stable.

The road has been closed for examination by forensic collision investigators.

It’s expected to remain closed for several hours.
