Phonsie O'Brien – brother of the late Vincent – has passed away at the age of 86 at his home in Kilsheelan.
He was a key part of Vincent O'Brien's training career as well as being a hugely successful trainer himself from the mid-1950s.
Phonsie achieved a place in Irish racing history by sending out four consecutive winners of the Galway Plate.
