New research suggests people who routinely take common painkillers could be more prone to a heart attack.

A study, published in the British Medical Journal, has drawn a link between drugs such as ibuprofen and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

The British Heart Foundation says doctors should consider the pros and cons of anti-inflammatory drugs before prescribing them.

But John Smith from the Proprietary Association of Great Britain says there’s no need to panic.
