Over 70’s free GP care by June.

Government ministers will tomorrow discuss a plan to give Ireland's over-70s free GP care.

The proposed scheme will cover around 36,000 people who aren't already entitled to it under a GP visit card or medical card.

It's expected it will cost around €18 million a year, and could be rolled out by June.

Children under the age of six are also supposed to be getting free GP care by June, however negotiations are ongoing with doctors.
