One Irish person is leaving Ireland every 13 minutes.

CSO figures show nearly 82,000 people left Ireland in the twelve months up to April 2014, around half of whom were Irish.

Meanwhile immigration has risen by 8 per cent, with 11,600 Irish people returning to the country last year.

For the first time, Irish women are now more likely to emigrate than men, with the UK and Australia the most likely destination for Irish emigrants.
