New hope for independent inquiry into Michael Dwyer death.

It's hoped that recent revelations about the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Tipperary man Michael Dwyer will lead to an independent investigation into the incident.

The Ballinderry man was shot dead by police in Bolivia in April 2009…during a raid on a hotel in Santa Cruz.

The Bolivian authorities claim that 24 year old Michael Dwyer was part of a plot to assassinate the country's president…however the lead prosecutor in the case has now come forward claiming that there are questions concerning the lawfulness of the police operation.

Marcelo Soza says that he is prepared to testify at European Level about the case.

North Tipperary Junior Minister Alan Kelly says it's a very significant development and will help the Dwyer family’s efforts to get a full inquiry into their son’s death.
