Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan was recently ordained as the leader over the Catholic Diocese, taking over the role from William Lee who retired last year.
Bishop Cullinan will be in the Parish of Ardfinnan today for Confirmation ceremonies following which he will travel to Clonmel to attend the reception.
Mayor of the Clonmel Borough District, Councillor Martin Lonergan will host this evening's event.
