Nenagh councillors pass roads budget – with strong opposition

There was a lengthy debate at the area's monthly meeting yesterday where councillors expressed their frustration and anger at the level of funding allocated to the local authority for road repairs.

One of the main points of contention was the councillors' input, or lack thereof, into the submission to the Department of Transport for storm damage funding.

It led to heated exchanges in the Chamber…before leading to a vote on the adoption of the programme of works which was passed by 6 votes to 3.

Fianna Fail's John Carroll was one of those who voted against the programme….he says the funding allocated is a disgrace

While Director of Roads in Tipperary County Council, Marcus O'Connor says he understands the anger from councillors and the public, but they have to get on with what they have.
