Two multi million euro secondary school developments in Tipperary will be officially opened today.
Education Minister Richard Bruton travels to the Premier County for the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon at the schools in Carrick on Suir and Templemore.
After years of campaigning plans for the redevelopment of Comeragh College on a standalone site finally got the green light in April 2014- Up to that point the 300 plus students at been based at two locations in the town.
Work on the multi million euro school started the following year and was completed earlier this year and comprises of a two-storey building including 16 specialist classrooms as well as 11 general classrooms, a PE hall, a general purpose hall, a Special Needs Unit, a 48 space car park, five ball courts and GAA playing pitch. It will accommodate up to 500 pupils.
The Education Minister is due to arrive at around 11.30 for the official opening at 12 before he then heads on to Templemore where he will then officially open the multi million euro refurbishment of Our Lady's School.
Archbishop Kieran O'Reilly is also attending the opening ceremony in the Mid Tipp town at 2.30.
