Meat factory protests continue in Tipperary.

Hundreds of Tipperary farmers are continuing to take part in a major demonstration outside 29 meat factories across the country this morning.

The 24 hour protest got underway at 3 o'clock yesterday over what they are calling the large discrepancy between meat prices here and in the UK.

Farmers claim the price paid for meat in Ireland is a euro per-kilo lower than the North.

In Tipperary, farmers are protesting outside three meat plants; ABP in Cahir and Nenagh and the Ashbourne meat plant in Roscrea.

However, Meat Industry Ireland has condemned the blockade describing it as 'misguided and counterproductive'.
