McVerry speaks out as homeless numbers released

Over 2-thousand children were classed as homeless in April according to the latest Department of the Environment numbers.

That's a 90 per cent increase on the same time last year.

The Father Peter McVerry Trust wants the Taoiseach to declare a national emergency to prevent evictions and ensure mortgage-to-rent options for those in arrears.

Father McVerry says the current situation is damaging children.
