Man injured at Roscrea Soapbox race

A Gardaí investigation is underway into an incident in Roscrea in which a man was seriously injured.

The man in his 50's was stewarding at the Soapbox Derby in the North Tipperary town yesterday when he was struck by one of the vehicles which appeared to go out of control on Convent Hill.

Two ambulances attended the scene and the man was rushed to Limerick University Hospital where he is being treated for head injures.

Separate investigations are now being carried out by the Gardaí and the HSA while the council is carrying out its own internal probe.
