Major celebrations for North Tipp IFA

The North Tipperary branch of the Irish Farmer's Association is celebrating is 60th anniversary this evening with a special event in Nenagh.

Three former presidents of the IFA were from Tipperary, including Rickard Deasy from Aglish, who led the march to Government buildings in 1966 looking for recognition for the then NFA.

As part of the national events marking the beginnings of the organisation, farmers and food producers from across North Tipp will be showcasing their wares at a special event in the Scouts Hall in Nenagh tonight.

Current IFA North Tipp Chairman Tim Cullinane says the Premier County is responsible for over a billion Euro worth of Irish exports of food and drink on an annual basis.
