Major breakthrough on cigarette smuggling.

Police in the North are questioning five people in connection with the seizure of cigarettes by customs officers from both sides of the border.

300,000 cigarettes were found in Louth and Dublin while another 2 million were found during searches in Down, Tyrone and Armagh.

A tobacco processing plant, 12 tonnes of tobacco and £50,000 were also recovered.

Investigations are continuing in both jurisdictions and internationally.
